Iconic UK-based rock band IONA is set to release a new 2-CD live album this fall, titled Edge of the World (Iona Live In Europe). About the project, the band writes, "We had hoped to get the new live album out in time for the UK tour, but with everyone's busy schedules, a bout of illness etc, the release date has been delayed now until November or December. So it could make a good Christmas present for your friends and family! Aside from a few final tweaks to some of the mixes, deciding which spoken song intros to use from the 5 gigs that were recorded and finalising the cover artwork, the album now is almost there! For those of you who are new to our mailings, this is the first Iona live album for 9 years and will be a 2cd album featuring songs played on gigs on the 'Another Realm' tour. It can be pre-ordered right now from the Iona website and income from pre-sales will go towards the manufacturing costs. A download version will be available on release. Here's the running order for the album:"

In other news, front woman Joanne Hogg is planning a new solo album as well. She writes, "HEAVEN DECLARES THE GLORY OF GOD!!!!!! The heavens have been a recurring theme in Iona's music over the years. Tracks like 'A Million Stars' and 'Light Reflected' from the album Open Sky, 'Sky Maps' and 'Fragment of a Fiery Sun' from The Circling Hour and 'Clouds' from our last studio release Another Realm attempt to convey something of the beauty, wonder and mystery of the universe. I've continued this theme in a song on my forthcoming solo release. One song features the lyric..."nighttime brings you Venus and Mars.... Uncountable stars". UNCOUNTABLE STARS! Probably the title for my solo cd. Yes, there is going to be some rock on this solo project..... But I confess , it's not progressive! Sometimes, the heart of a song is best conveyed in the simpler patterns and rhythms of life. The intricacies are there but they are more subtly woven into the tapestry of the song....I'm keeping the arrangements simple. Hopefully the strength of the songs lies in the melody and lyrics."
